Minutes of May 25, 2013 Board Meeting

Board Members Present: Howie Hawkins, Naqia Kent, Baye Muhammad, Shirley Rowser
Board Members Absent: Yaschia Kinsey

Next board meeting: 6:00 pm, Tuesday, June 11, 2013

All decisions were made by consensus unless otherwise noted.

1. Approval of Minutes for April 9, April 25, and May 14

The minutes for April 9, April 25, and May 14 were approved.

2. Web Site Depository Account and Pay Services Account

Howie Hawkins go to Cooperative Federal to open up a depository account for Eat To Live Food Cooperative. When that accouint is open, he will set up a payment services for the website and then make the website public. Shirley Rowser wrote a $100 check for deposit at Cooperative Federal to open the account.

3. Banner for Store Construction Site

The banner is ready to pick. Howie Hawkins will get a check from Shirley Rowser when we receive the invoice and go pick up the banner.

4. Business Plan

Joseph Bryant, Howie Hawkins, and Meagan Weatherby will meet on Wednesday, May 29 to go over the comments on the current draft of the business plan from Mel Braverman, the consultant from CDS Consultants Co-op, and plan their next steps in updating the business plan.

5. Marketing and Membership Recruitment

Howie Hawkins is putting all the Eat To Live sign up sheet contacts on one spreadsheet for use in going back to them to recruit new members. Charles Pierce-El and Calmesha Givens have volunteered to some of those contacts. Still on our agenda is preparing an email outreach to city employees for members. We will do that once the website is live for more information and online membership certificate purchases.

Other events discussed as marketing and membership recruitment opportunities were the September 12 Southside Community Coalition reception next door, the September 28 New York Cooperatives Summit down the street, and a grand opening for the co-op in October at the latest.

6. New Board Member

Shirley Rowser will invite Calvin Corridors to the next board meeting to discuss having him join the board.
